The Two Main Options

EuroNight and Snälltåget are the routes to compare first

Stockholm to Hamburg or Berlin is not one single train product. It is mainly a choice between two overnight operators, both compatible with Interrail when you reserve.

Option 1

EuroNight Stockholm-Hamburg-Berlin

SJ EuroNight EN 345 runs Stockholm-Malmö-Hamburg-Berlin until August 31, 2026. From September 1, 2026, RDC says it will continue the EuroNight route commercially as RDC EuroNight 344/345.

Option 2

Snälltåget Stockholm-Hamburg-Berlin

Snälltåget publishes a 2026 Stockholm-Malmö-Copenhagen-Hamburg-Berlin timetable. It is seasonal, does not run every day, and the operator says times are preliminary and may change.

Comparison

Which Stockholm to Germany train should you pick?

The best train is usually the one with an available reservation on your date. If both are available, compare departure time, arrival time, and accommodation type.

Snälltåget departures from Sweden in 2026

5-8 July: daily
12-18 July: daily, listed by Snälltåget as replaced by bus

Interrail Reservations

Interrail covers the journey, not the bed

Both operators can work with Interrail, but the reservation is the part that makes the plan real. Search the operator first, then build the rest of the trip around the confirmed train.

1

Choose your date first. These trains do not have identical operating calendars.

2

Check the operator timetable before activating a travel day. Track work can change times.

3

Add Interrail/Eurail during booking and buy the mandatory reservation.

4

Book a berth or sleeper early in summer, because this route can sell out before ordinary seats.

For Snälltåget, Interrail and Eurail are valid but the operator says you must book and pay for a reservation. Interrail also lists reservations as mandatory for Stockholm-Berlin services in Sweden.

Build It

Turn the Stockholm-Germany train choice into a route you can edit.

Add Stockholm, Hamburg, Berlin, and optional stopovers, then compare where the EuroNight or Snälltåget reservation fits your dates.
